The GLS ParcelShops

From shipping counters to multifunction stations

Get the newspaper, have your laundry done, buy a mobile phone – and hand in a parcel? No problem in the more than 5,500 GLS ParcelShops nationwide. They are located in shops of various branches and are characterized by fast service, attractive opening hours and their own parking spaces.

GLS Germany established the shop-in-shop solution as a pilot project more than 20 years ago. The aim: to make the shipping services of GLS accessible to private individuals and companies with small, irregular parcel volumes.

In the meantime the pilot project has become a permanent international institution. Today there are more than 18,000 GLS ParcelShops throughout Europe.

The ParcelShops are a central element of the services offered by GLS for both the growing B2C and C2X markets. The ParcelShops are also popular as delivery addresses for mobile technicians or service personnel. In addition to alternative delivery, the ParcelShops also enable convenient returns – which is particularly important for e-commerce.

With its online dispatch preparation, GLS also meets the increased demands of sporadic shippers – in the age of eBay, Etsy and Co. Some of these are highly specialised niche providers who, thanks to e-commerce, are able to offer and sell their goods throughout Europe. They can frank and manage their parcels conveniently online.

Thanks to international connections in FlexDeliveryService, ShopDeliveryService and ShopReturnService, the ParcelShops can be used across national borders.

The shops are integrated into the GLS IT system using modern, standardised IT equipment. All the routes a parcel takes from the shop can be tracked precisely via the shipment tracking system.
