GLS stands for high-quality parcel services
GLS Germany is a subsidiary of GLS, General Logistics Systems B.V. with its headquarter in Amsterdam. GLS offers reliable shipping solutions – nationally, in Europe and worldwide. Europe is the defined core market. The GLS Group covers 40 countries with its parcel services, most of them with its own companies, others via reliable partners.
About 70 central and regional hubs and around 1,400 depots and agencies are available to the GLS Group. About 19,000 employees and approx. 28,000 delivery vehicles as well as approx. 4,000 trucks are in daily use for the Group. In the business year 2019/20 GLS transported 667 million parcels and achieved a turnover of 3.6 billion euros.
With 66 depots GLS Germany is represented nationwide. The hub in Neuenstein/Hesse is the central reloading point. 16 depots additionally serve as regional distribution centres. The tight, structured network enables fast and smooth parcel delivery in Germany in less than 24 hours standard transit time.
In addition, GLS Germany has a separate express network with 154 DER KURIER stations plus the main hub. Via this network, which is closely linked to the parcel network, GLS realises guaranteed, time-definite deliveries throughout Germany. European and worldwide express shipping is also part of the service portfolio.
GLS offers high-quality shipping not only to large senders: In over 5,500 ParcelShops, private persons and companies with small shipping quantities can hand in their parcels. Preparation for dispatch is particularly simple via the GLS-ONE portal. The ParcelShops are also alternative delivery addresses. They help recipients to receive their goods quickly and securely – even if no one is at home when the parcel is delivered.
