Again EcoVadis Silver status for the GLS Group

  • 23-JUN-2020

  • Recertification by independent provider of sustainability ratings
  • GLS among the top six per cent of companies assessed

Amsterdam, 23 June 2020. For the second time, the GLS Group has been awarded Silver status in the sustainability rating from EcoVadis. In the process, the parcel service provider increased its rating to a total of 65 points.

“Environmental awareness and ethical behaviour are firmly entrenched in the corporate strategy of GLS. The EcoVadis seal helps to document our commitment in those areas and demonstrate it to our customers in particular, as well as to other dialogue groups,” says Dr Anne Wiese, Manager Corporate Responsibility GLS Group. “The audits also make it easier for us to validate and improve our measures.”

Despite increased requirements, GLS improved in the categories Environment, Labour and Human Rights, and Ethics. In the overall evaluation, the company is just one point away from Gold status, which is only achieved by five per cent of applicants. That means the GLS Group is among the top six per cent of assessed companies. Looking at the logistics sector specifically, GLS is among the top ten per cent, and even in the best seven per cent with regard to environmental topics. “We are continuously further developing our sustainability strategy. The EcoVadis results show us that we are on the right path,” says Dr Anne Wiese.
